Early Ranch, Brick
Constructed in 1938 by James Duthie, contractor, this horizontally oriented,single-story house is an example of early ranch style design. While still modest in scale, it exhibits the low lines, asymmetrical arrangement, and low pitched cross gable roof typical of this style. A front gabled dormer which pierces the side gable roof makes the house appear larger and more imposing than it really is. Gables and eaves have modest overhangs except along the front facade where the eave extends to cover a porch which runs the full length of the wall. The porch covering is supported on 4X4 posts. Windows are one-over-one double hung with wood casements. The front gable end window is trimmed with louvered shutters, a common decorative treatment on this style house. The house is constructed of rough faced, unevenly coursed brick. The house retains its integrity in all aspects.
