Cross Gable Bungalow, 1913
A simple cross-gable bungalow, this house was constructed in 1913. It has wide overhanging eaves with exposed, angle-cut rafter tails. The wide overhanging gable end is supported on knee-brace brackets and trimmed with a facia. The spanning front porch is covered by a projecting gable supported on double posts set directly on the porch rail at the corners. These double posts are joined by cross-members at the top and the middle, introducing a decorative motif in the otherwise unembellished house. The porch is enclosed with a closed rail clad in the same material as the house. The ten-light, centered entry door is flanked by tri-partite ribbons of narrow, vertically emphasized double-hung windows. Square bays are found on the north and south walls, It is clad with clapboard, while the gable end is finished with rustic shingle. This house is very similar in design to 647 F Street and may have been constructed by the same builders. The house retains its integrity of design, materials, workmanship, setting and association.
