California Bungalow, 1924

A classic California Bungalow, this house, constructed in 1924, is rectangular in plan with a low-pitched side-gable roof. A centrally placed, projecting gable roof covers the spanning, three-quarter length raised porch. The porch roof is supported on double posts which rest on stucco piers. Exposed purlins extend beyond the gable facia, while exposed rafters are hidden behind a facia board finish. Fenestration is symmetrical. One-over-one double hung windows flank the center entry door. The low roof pitch and broad windows in conjunction with the massing of the structure givie the house a strong horizontal emphasis. Cladding is narrow novelty siding. The house retains its integrity of design, materials, workmanship, setting and association.
